Search Engine Optimization
Wikipedia tells us Search Engine Optimization (SEO) is the process of improving the volume or quality of traffic to a web site from search engines via “natural” or un-paid (“organic” or “algorithmic”) search results as opposed to Search Engine Marketing (SEM) which deals with paid inclusion. Typically, the earlier (or higher) a site appears in the search results list, the more visitors it will receive from the search engine. SEO may target different kinds of search, including image search, local search, video search and industry-specific vertical search engines. This gives a web site web presence.
SEO considers how search engines work and what people search for. Optimizing a website primarily involves editing its content and HTML and associated coding to both increase its relevance to specific keywords and to remove barriers to the indexing activities of search engines.
SEO is all about how a web site is designed, how it is programmed and how the content is organized. We believe solid SEO practices should be present in every web site, from the beginning. After all, having a web site means nothing if that site and it’s content cannot be found on the internet! This is why each web site we develop utilizes these “solid SEO practices” as the core of the entire web site. By doing this we are giving our clients a head start on their competitors.
Once our SEO solution is implemented on a client’s web site, we then analyze the difference in traffic volume. If the increased volume of web traffic isn’t enough, we sit down with the client to determine exactly how much more web site traffic they are looking to get. We then look at the potential return on investment (ROI) by spending additional dollars in Search Engine Marketing (SEM). This ROI number should be measured first by the SERPs and then by the overall increase in the client’s revenue stream. This money is then invested in extending the web site marketing campaign to include additional Search Engine Marketing (SEM).
